Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
Overview:
Hyperhidrosis is abnormally excessive sweating that is not related to heat or exercise. It usually affects just one specific area, such as the palms of the hands, soles of the feet or underarm area. Although not life-threatening, it can be uncomfortable and cause embarrassment and psychological trauma. Although there are many treatments on the market, botulinum toxin injection is considered one of the safest and effective modalities of treatment. It blocks the nerves responsible for activating the sweat glands in the area and thus reduces sweating.
